God satisfies the thirsty…

Posted on June 9, 2007 by Bishop Jos Tharakan

God satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm: 107: 9

Have you ever been so thirsty that you could drink the whole well down? Have you ever been so hungry that you would eat anything given to you? If not, these are two wonderful experiences to go through in life. For some reason these two experiences have the power to open our heart to experiences that we will never trade for anything.

These two experiences will also give us an idea what it is to be thirsty for God in the physical sense of the term, meaning they are tangible and needed as human beings, and the longing we need before our desire for God is quenched to our satisfaction. The more we drink from God’s well, the thirstier it gets but sweeter it will become. The hungrier we get for God, all that happens in life will become good things that will give us the strength to face the challenges of life.

I say to myself here, yes, I know all these theologies and spiritualities. What am I to do? Thirst for God as much as you would on a very hot, dry day and be hungry for God like the time you haven’t had anything to eat for a long time. Watch closely all that happens around you, and then you will be pleasantly surprised to see that they are good things connecting us to God through the hidden threads of providence. God will satisfy our thirst and hunger with good things, for our good, whether we know it or not.
