It is OK not to like!

Posted on January 20, 2007 by Bishop Jos Tharakan

“Anyone who says, “I love God” and hates his brother, is a liar” 1 John: 5: 21

Is there a chance in our lives that we can not stand some people? of course there is. Is there a chance that we may disagree with people? of course there is. There are various reasons why we might dislike one or another in our life. These can be due to various behavior patterns, certain attitudes and the list goes on and on.

Now the question is, can we still love them? The answer is yes. We can. Imagine if love is based on the behavior of someone, who it would be possible for Christ to love us? How could he have chosen Judas, Peter and John into his bunch? This simply points to the fact that disagreeing with people sometimes, and not liking what they do is not exactly hating them and therefore invites to love them more. How do we do it?

Pray with a heart that wishes God’s blessings to them even if we don’t want to and thus we will have loved them spiritually.
